Sheltered from the Typhoon

When I am in Hong Kong, I live aboard a teak wood Chinese motor junk, moored inside Hong Kong Island's Aberdeen Typhoon Shelter.

The Typhoon Shelter is a unique environment, with daily encounters with luxury yachts, excursion and tour boats, working harbour boats, fishermen, sampans, marine police launches, dragon boat racing teams, and the handful of "westerners" who choose to make the Shelter our home. It is surrounded by shipyards, provisioners shops, private marina clubs, high rise condos, the skyline of modern Hong Kong, and the South China Sea.

I'd like to invite you to join me from time to time as I begin to explore my new home....

Polo Tournament

I  covered the Audemars Piguet International Polo 2010 Tournament held at the Singapore Polo Club.

I photographed Ralph Lauren model and star polo player Nacho Figueras for an upcoming magazine article.  For the shoot, Nacho arrived at the St. Regis Singapore Hotel, in the heart of the city, on horse back.  Nacho is partnering with St. Regis to promote polo sporting events and lifestyle.  He also was a competitor on the winning team of the Audemars Piguet International Polo Gold Cup Match at the Singapore Polo Club on June 6, 2010.

Performance Photography - AWARE Superwomen In Concert

Celebrating 25 years of the Singapore women's rights organization, AWARE, "SuperWomen in Concert" was held as a one-night-only fund raising benefit performance at the Esplanade Concert Hall on June 8, 2010.  The performers were a truly exciting ensemble of women of all ages representing Singapore Women's contribution to the country's music, television, theatre, and sports cultures.

I was very happy to be asked to photograph this remarkable and memorable performance for AWARE.

Chennai Chutney Photo Exhibition

Chennai Chutney features images of everyday life in this South India City by participants of a workshop led by US-based photo-essayist David H. Wells.  The photographers, from six different countries of origin and located across three continents, never-the-less blended incredibly well together in five intense days of shooting in December 2009.  This joint exhibition gives a glimpse of how the personal style of each complements one another to give a unique perspective to the collection as a whole.
